What make this Butter Garlic Shrimp recipe special? I added grated ginger just like how my dear departed Papa makes his Butter Garlic Shrimp. Give it a try! You'll be surprised how a simple grated ginger can add lots of flavor in this Butter Garlic Shrimp dish. You don't like it spicy? Skip the chili flakes. Don't like to peel shrimp? Buy ready to cook headless and peeled shrimp, available in most store or supermarkets.

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon canola or olive oil
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 lbs large shrimp, deveined
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • green onions for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat a wide pan over medium-high heat and add oil. Add butter and allow to melt. Add garlic, stirring frequently until fragrant or light brown, about 1 minute. Add ginger, stirring frequently until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add chili flakes, stirring frequently, about 1 minute.
  2. Add shrimp to the pan and gently toss to combine. Allow to cook until light pink while gently stirring for 3 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and continue to cook while frequently stirring for 2 minutes.
  3. Top with green onions and serve while hot with steamed rice or vegetables. Enjoy!
