Sinigang na Isda

 

How to cook a simple Sour Soup Fish or Sinigang na Isda. This time I used fresh catch Maya-Maya or Red Snapper. So simple to make, healthy and delicious! Feel free to use other kind of fish like milk fish, salmon, pompano or whatever is available. Batuan or batwan not available? Feel free to use sinigang mix or other souring ingredients.

Ingredients
  • 2-3 cups of water
  • 1 large onion, cubed
  • 2 medium tomatoes, cubed
  • 4-5 pieces batuan or batwan 
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • around 2 lbs Maya-Maya fish, cut into serving pieces
  • 1 tablespoon Knorr sinigang powder or to taste
  • 4-5 pieces finger chilies
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2-3 cups kangkong leaves

Instructions
  1. Bring water into a boil. Add onions, tomatoes and batuan (batwan). Season with ground pepper and fish sauce. Stir to combine and cover pot. Simmer over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes. 
  2. Add fish and continue to simmer for about 3-4 minutes of until fish is almost done. Add sinigang powder and gently stir. Add finger chilies and allow to cook for 2 minutes. Add green onions and kangkong leaves. Let it simmer for few minutes. 
  3. Add salt if needed. Remove pot from heat and serve while hot. Enjoy!
